Good thoughts. All technologies are doible-edged swords, but in the research work I've done, digital kinships remain fragile. All those I've talked to in ethnographic studies say VR can be fun (and it can be!) but they still want human, real-world interactions. VR can be very helpful, fun and useful. But it doesn't replace culture.
