It's quite interesting how, going back thousands of years, select groups (MIT here), usually religious leaders, would make these forecasts. But we do suspect the Mayan culture largely due to drought. They were marvellous engineers, but could only go so far. Some think AI could bolster our cognitive skills to help this time. Perhaps.
