Some interesting thoughts here and a lot to unpack. Much of Dawkins idea of the selfish gene is being disputed via Dmitri Balyaevs work on genetics. I think there's a good chance we will see more splitting of belief systems, especially religions, in the coming decades. This has long been the case of humans going back many thousands of years. Will it coalesce into one or a few major ones? Perhaps. Hard to say. The re-emergence of a belief system is called a Revitalisation Movement, they happen quite often. Christian Nationalism and Hindu Nationalism are two examples of current ones born of older ones.
