The wand and star imagery to me serves as what anthropologist Lévi-Strauss would call "mediating devices" between the binary opposition of human/machine or known/unknown. These symbols help bridge what could otherwise be an unsettling technological gap by drawing on deeply embedded cultural archetypes that humans have used for millennia to make sense of transformative powers.
